What
can I expect on my first visit?
What should I do in the case of an
emergency?
What are the payment options?
Do you have any advice for post-operative
procedures?
Dr.
Berkovich is proud to offer a wide range of dental technologies.
We are also committed to continuing education, and we make full
use of dental innovations as they become available to us. Here
are some of the advanced technologies we offer:
CEREC 3
Dr. Berkovich now offers CEREC 3, the revolutionary alternative to amalgam, composite and crowns! Simply put,
this is truly one of the most advanced restoration systems available to dentistry. One appointment – one sitting
restorations!
What is CEREC? CEREC is an acronym...
- Chairside: The technology is in the dental operatory and used while
you are in the chair.
- Economical: The procedure is economical for both dentist and
patient.
- Restorations: The procedure restores your tooth to its natural
beauty, function, and strength.
- of Esthetic: The restorations are metal-free and tooth-colored.
- Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used that are close in
composition to your natural tooth structure.
For an advanced dental restorative system that allows us to restore decayed
teeth, place crowns, remove defective amalgam fillings, or place cosmetic veneers in just one appointment. This allows you
to have the highest quality, most lifelike dental restorations in just one visit to the dentist...in, out, and on with your
busy life. The state of the art CEREC system was developed in 1985 at the University of Zurich in Switzerland by a dentist,
Dr. Werner H. Mormann, and an electrical engineer, Dr. Markus Brandistini. Today, CEREC 3 with CEREC 3D software is still
the world's only chair side dental CAD/CAM restorative system. At the heart of the system is the innovative technology.
The CEREC Acquisition Unit is mobile and houses a medical grade computer and the CEREC camera. We use the camera to take a
digital picture of your prepared tooth. This picture is used instead of a traditional impression. This means no impression
tray and material for you to gag on. The computer and CEREC 3D software converts the digital picture to a three dimensional
virtual model of your prepped tooth. We then design your restoration right on screen using the software while you wait (and
watch!). This software can assist us with designing any single tooth restoration: crowns, inlays (fillings), onlays (partial
crowns), and veneers. Once we have designed your restoration (usually about 5 minutes), we click a button and the design
data is communicated via a wireless radio signal to the CEREC Milling Unit.
With CEREC technology, we can restore damaged teeth or enhance your smile with bio-compatible, tooth-colored materials in a
single appointment. This technology has a track record of almost 20 years, and more than 100 studies confirm the clinical
excellence of the method. This procedure is useful for replacing old silver filings as well as worn out composite fillings.
Since it only takes one appointment, you don't have to come back for a second appointment and you don't have to worry about
any temporaries falling out between appointments. If you are interested in
CEREC restorations, please contact our office today.
Soft Tissue Laser
Imagine treatment that causes no bleeding, reduces numbing requirements, and performs gum recontouring or tissue repair
with precision and speed. This is all possible with the advanced technology of the soft tissue laser. The laser uses an
invisible energy beam to perform soft tissue procedures more efficiently and comfortably for our patients.
The soft tissue laser is a very effective tool for recontouring teeth and reshaping gums by removing excess gum tissue.
Reshaping a patient's gums can make small teeth appear larger by exposing more of the tooth and an even gum line can provide
a more appealing smile.
We find laser dentistry to be very effective at enhancing the quality of our dental care. To find out more about the
comfortable, relaxing experience laser dentistry can provide, contact our office today.
Digital X-rays The newest technological advancement in our office is digital dental x-rays. Digital x-rays offer many advantages. Although
the risk of radiation damage from normal x-rays is small, digital x-rays limit your exposure by 90%, enhancing your safety
significantly. Our digital x-ray system allows us to take crystal clear images of your teeth and oral structures, which can
be enlarged for better, more detailed viewing. Networked with our computer system, these x-ray images are instantly
available to you and the doctor as soon as they are taken. You can see any problems for yourself while reviewing your
treatment options together. Digital x-rays help you to be more informed about your own dental health. Please feel free to
contact on our office if you have any questions regarding digital dental x-rays.
IntraOral Camera The intraoral camera is a diagnostic dental tool allowing us to more
clearly identify potential problems within the mouth early on. The tiny
intraoral camera can be inserted into a patient's mouth, taking pictures
of the teeth and displaying the images on a computer screen. Using the
intraoral camera saves time and makes problems easily visible to both
patient and doctor. It is actually possible to see into the tooth and
detect problems beneath the surface.
Patients can view the areas we will be working on, making procedures
more understandable. The accompanying software also provides clear and
accurate data so that the best treatment options can be selected. To
learn more about the intraoral camera, please contact our office today.
Digital Photography Digital photographs give patients an 'up close' look at specific areas,
providing greater understanding and decision-making ability. With a life-size,
color view of their mouth; patients are able to express treatment preferences
to a greater extent. These images are helpful in:
|
-
Giving
an accurate view of areas needing treatment or that are at risk.
-
Enhancing
patient communication by allowing them to pinpoint areas of concern.
-
Maintaining
a visual record of the mouth for each patient, becoming a reference
for later.
-
Providing
dental specialists, dental lab technicians, etc. with a visual
map to accompany Dr. Berkovich’s instructions for heightened
accuracy.

Computerized Charting
With advanced software, Dr. Berkovich stores information and images for
continual review and assessment. At each visit your chart is carefully
examined and updated if necessary. This allows Dr. Berkovich to track
your progress over time. It also serves as an educational tool, providing
images and explanations for potential treatment plans, helping patients
to better understand their individual needs.
Treatment Planning Software
Our computer system is designed to help us track your treatment plan
throughout your history with us. Each step we take in your care is tracked
in a permanent record, providing our team with immediate access to all
the information we need to maintain your lifelong quality of care.
Electric Hand-pieces
Dr. Berkovich uses no air-driven drills or hand-pieces. Air-driven tools,
which spin at up to one half million rpm, put out a high frequency whine
and can be disconcerting for patients. Instead, Dr. Berkovich uses electric,
gear-driven tools that turn at only about 200,000 rpm. Because these
tools do not float on a cushion of air or on ball bearings, they run
more concentrically and do not vibrate. This, in turn, results in a quieter,
more comfortable experience for the patient.
Zoom! Whitening
The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary tooth whitening
procedure ideal for those who want dramatically whiter teeth with a minimal
investment of time. This extraordinary procedure takes just under two
hours from beginning to end and produces immediate results. The Zoom!
whitening process is simple and painless.
During the procedure, Dr. Berkovich applies a 25% hydrogen peroxide gel
that is activated when exposed to the specially designed Zoom! laser
light. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter, sometimes
more. Zoom! is the most advanced technology used today and it has been
proven to be the highest rated in patient satisfaction. To learn more
about Zoom!, please contact our office today.
Sterilization Center
Your safety is a priority in all procedures. Because Dr. Berkovich is
highly committed to providing a worry-free environment for patients,
the practice utilizes an advanced heat sterilization system that exceeds
safety and health standards required by OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health
Administration) and the CDC (Center for Disease Control).
Our sterilization center is right out in the open, so you can see for
yourself that we take your safety very, very seriously. Our hand-pieces
are autoclaved under the strictest controls. Our staff always wears gloves,
masks, and protective eyewear for our protection as well as yours. Each
team member is trained in the strictest sterilization standards with
everyone’s safety in mind
